David Strong is an internationally recognised expert in energy efficient sustainable building design and refurbishment. He has a wealth of knowledge associated with the low/zero carbon buildings and is a specialist in whole system thinking, building physics and integrative design. He has a particular interest in eco-minimalism and bio-mimicry –exploiting and optimising the use of natural systems for heating, cooling, ventilating and illuminating buildings. He also has expertise associated with the integration of renewable energy systems in the built environment, combustion & control, combined heat & power, district heating and energy efficient design of refrigeration plant for commercial applications.

From 1998 to 2007 he was Managing Director of BRE Environment and between 2007 and 2010 Chief Executive of Inbuilt Consulting Ltd. Since 2002 David has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Nottingham, Department of Architecture and Built Environment. and in December 2012 he was also appointed a Visiting Professor at Oxford Brookes University.

David is Chairman of the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Buildings and chair of the Green Deal Installer Accreditation and Qualification Ministerial Forum
